Clearly it was easier to blame the cannabis. I actually agree with them that cannabis is a dangerous drug. But they never stopped to ask themselves how its prohibition stiopped their (underage) son from getting it, and its strength. Drug dealers dont ask for id. In a legal market age restrictions apply. Criminal gangs exploit prohibition to produce the strongest drug they can. In a legal market, we the people get to decide the potency of the drug. Im sure these parents have been through some pain.
