Ganja day 2003 - London

2003 had started badly. Not badly for the campaign as such, but badly for most people as the war in Iraq dominated the news. It also tied up a lot of cannabis campaigners for one reason or another

The the local authority tried to charge the organisaers the full commercial rate for using the park, which would have stopped the event, Ganja day is not a commercial event and simply doesn't raise enough money.

But in the event everything dropped into place, although the march wasn't well organised and was somewhat smaller than in previous years. The fectival was in full swing though and around 20,000 people turned up, the weather held off and lots of people broke the law and did a lot of dancing as usual.

The residents of Brixton were clearly shocked and awed at the show of lawbreaking in their streets.
