"Thousands of hippies, baby boomers and students descended on London on May 6 for what was described as Britain's biggest-ever pro-cannabis rally. By evening, approximately 30,000 supporters had converged on sun-drenched Brockwell Park in Brixton, a largely ethnic-minority community in south London. The rally started at 1PM with a 10,000-strong, four-mile long march against the prohibition of the hemp plant. Protesters waved flags painted with marijuana leaves and carried banners and posters calling on Prime Minister Tony Blair and Home Secretary Jack Straw to relax their anti-cannabis stance. With four party tents, two live-music stages and scores of food stalls to quell the munchies, there was indeed enough to keep everyone happy. The festival also featured speeches by lawyer Lord Gifford, Lorna Clay of the Amsterdam Cannabis Coalition and flamboyant gay-rights activist Peter Tatchell. Scores of Metropolitan Police troops were on full alert for the rally. Although copious amounts of marijuana were traded and inhaled, no one was arrested. - Olivia Mejias "

Walking at a brisk pace, thinking we'd missed the march, we came 'round a corner and.... they were still marching!
Thousands of people from all over the UK, happy, triumphant and with a positive buzz of purpose.
Black, white, men, women, children, dogs, walking, wheeling, skating, skinning, through the streets of Brixton.
But then we reached Brockwell Park. The sight was simply overwhelming. I am not normally an emotional person, but a tear of joy came to my eye as I crested the hill-walk to the main park and I saw the panorama of home-grown truth unfold before me. Stretched to the horizon I saw countless thousands. It went on, and on, people crowded around tents, signed petitions, listened to inspirational activists, people danced, children played, and history was made.
I have a spine disease which by this time was reminding me that standing and walking for too long is painfull. Just as I sat down to rest, someone passed me a joint, within ten minutes I was up, moving and dancing! Thanks!
I could go on, and on... but here's some pictures of the day to give you an idea of the flavour which was to be found.

Cannabis is Positive. Harm comes through prohibition. That's what I took away, and that's what I'll pass on.....
